Casino Advertisement on TV and Billboards

Supporters for the Casino for West Warwick go on TV commercials as well as on billboards. The campaign efforts would attract residents to vote for Harrah's Entertainment and the Narragansett Indian Tribe proposed casino to win in November election.

The campaign is sponsored by Rhode Islanders for Jobs and Tax Relief. Claire Eckert, spokeswoman for the organization said, "We have the chance now to deliver the info accurately and fairly so people can make informed decisions."

The TV commercial is currently running on air. The ad focuses on education and health care. It gave residents a glimpse into life on the Narragansett's reservation in Charlestown.

Chief Sachem Matthew Thomas said, "It just gives them our perspective. It lets them know we're people with needs just like them."

The TV advertisement tells the story of a Narragansett Indian student who was having trouble at school but eventually overcome his problem with the help of his teachers on the tribe. Having the school in their tribe can help a student grow and to learn their customs.

Aside from the TV commercial that will run for two more weeks. The organization will have a billboard to be visible by the end of the week along Route 95 and Route 195. A direct mailing will be sent to residents by the organization to ensure first hand information.
